Did you know Good Nature Groundskeeping is up for Employer of the Year at the Celebration of People Awards? The award ceremony is put on by Citizen Advocacy, an organization which works to support the rights and interests of people with various forms of disability. The event takes place each year on December 3, designated by the United Nations as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. If you are interested in attending you may purchase tickets at http://celebrationofpeople.com/
The Employer of the Year award goes to a business which strives to promote inclusivity in its hiring practices and workplace policies. Cycle Salvation was given this honour in 2009. Other awards go to outstanding volunteers and advocates, as well as to individuals with disabilities who have made great achievements in the arts, sports or as employees. This year GNG is in competition for best employer with hardware chain Home Depot and local business Thyme and Again.
Good Nature Groundskeeping strives to achieve a double bottom line by offering residential and commercial grounds-keeping services to the Ottawa community and at the same time providing training and employment to people who face barriers. Over the years, Good Nature Groundskeeping has grown into a successful social business serving such clients as the Chinatown BIA, Ottawa Community Housing and Windmill Developments.
